Mission
The Specialty Tobacco Council, Inc. maintains an ongoing program designed to keep its members abreast of all state, federal (and to some extent local) legislation that may affect its members’ ability to sell their products throughout the United States. To that end the STC sends out regular legislative notices, and urgent notices when the subject is of immediate importance. The STC remains in contact with a number of other companies in the industry as well as trade associations and lobbyists representing various aspects of the tobacco business. As such, it is positioned to promote its members’ interests and to deal with legislators and regulators at all governmental levels.
In the past the STC has been able to reverse clove cigarette bans with a successful court action in Florida and a successful lobbying effort in the Nevada Legislature.
